Our Regular Updates in 2010

Sunday 29th August 2010
Back inside Merefield again, which is bright and cheerful. Also had the sound system functioning and slide projection working, which does help everyone to feel part of the worship. The hymns and songs were bright and worshipful and there was much sharing of  the Lord working in individual lives. Derrick Chamberlain preached this morning on true humility and service, which can be downloaded from the 'Teachings' tab to the right.

Sunday 22nd August 2010
Several of our holiday makers have returned whilst some are still away, but it was an excellent morning with a couple of visitors as we sung our praises to the Lord. There was some testimony, many requests for prayer and news from around the world. Ian spoke on 'Fine Pearls' from Matthew 13, encouraging us to seek all that the Lord wants to shower us with. After the worship ministry continued as people shared and prayed together under the blessing of the Lord.
Todays message will be available on the TEACHINGS tab. My apologies that last weeks is still not available as I corrupted it. I hope to repair the recording and place on the site.

Sunday 8th August 2010
Being in the 'hall next door' and our worship being very basic has not altered the depth and the joy of knowing the very presence of our Lord and Saviour. We had the pleasure of hearing from the Gideons of their work in promoting the bible and Lawrence Baxter returned to preach from Romans 4 of the very real necessity of a personal relationship with God, which is kept fresh day to day. Click on the 'teachings' tab to download.

Sunday 25th July 2010
First week of the school holidays and yet we still had a fairly full gathering and despite still no sound amplification, we worshipped the Lord with all our hearts. We witnessed some stunning testimonies which glorified our Saviour. Ourspeaker this morning was Gordon Taylor, who gave us a dip into the letter to the Philippians showing us that 'To Live is Christ and to Die is gain'.

Sunday 18th July 2010
We welcomed Salomon from Burkina Faso to our Worship this morning. The sound system was not working, but that did not deter us and the singing was strong and the testimonies and prayers were loud as we shared how the Lord has been working inour lives during the week.
Ian introduced Salomon who gave a presentation of the work that was taking place in Burkina Faso and thanked us for enabling them to do so much. He then preached from Matthew 15:21-30 about the Canaanite woman and encouraged us in our faith. 'You Have a Great Faith' is available to download here (we have a backup facility for emergencies).

Sunday 10th July
A 'normal morning' today, but that does not mean that Joy, expectation and the presence of the Holy Spirit was absent. We had an excellent meeting including a special time of sharing. Geoff preached from Acts 3 on a subject which was relevant to most Christians in their 'walk with the Lord'. 'Times of Refreshment' can be downloaded from our TEACHINGS tab

Next Sunday we will welcome Solomon Sawadogo from Burkina Faso to be with us and to preach. There will be 'Open House' at Ian's this Tuesday from 7.30pm where you can meet with Solomon.

Sunday 3rd July
It was good to have David Hoyle with us this weekend, yesterday for the PWMI meeting at Bethesda and today at Merefield for our morning worship. He gave us news of his last visit to the Philippines the wonderful work that is being done there and the thirst for God that exists. He preached from Psalm 55 on how we can be immitators of David in his thirst for holiness.
Listen or download from our TEACHINGS tab

Sunday 27th June
We welcomed friends and relatives of Samantha this morning, who had come to witness her baptism and testimony of faith. We celebrated the joy of new life in the Lord in songs and word before Geoff preached from the book of Esther. He compared the strength of Faith that Esther required in obeying the Lord with that of Samantha and showed how this was available for all who desired it. After Samantha's testimony, we witnessed her baptism and then sung her chosen song, 'Would you be Free' while around the pool before enjoying a time of friendship and refreshments.
Some of us then continued fellowship together in a sunny picnic in Hesketh park.
Sunday 20th June
We were pleased to welcome back Eric Browning this morning, who gave us a very gentle but deep look into the prophet Malachi. It was a lovely morning with plenty of worship and sharing. We just feel that the Lord is really blessing us and we need to remain within His will to ensure that it continues.

We look forward to the visit of David Hoyle in 2 weeks time, both for the PWMI meeting and our Sunday morning worship.

Sunday 6th June
We have had a wonderfull  Prophecy Conference with Brian Gemmell of Prophetic Witness Movement International [PWMI] this weekend with lots of visitors, a great time of friendship and some fantastic revelations of the prophecies in the bible. All the teachings from the four sessions are 'on line' now and can be accessed here

Sunday 30th May
We welcomed some more visitors this morning as we sang praises to our Lord and Saviour and listened to passages from the bible. In the sharing we heard of several answers to prayer and requests for further prayer.
Geoff preached from Psalm 137, challenging us on how much we put our understanding into practice. 'Going for Gold' encourages us to aim high in our walk with God and can be downloaded by clicking on the link

Sunday 23rd May
A very special day for Jonathan, Anneke and Stephanie this morning as they prepared for their baptism in the pool. We were pleased to welcome their families and enjoyed a time of fellowship with the Lord. In the time of sharing, Billy was encouraged to give a shortened version of his testimony at Hillsborough before Geoff preached on Psalm 90, the only psalm written by Moses. It showed how Moses knew that the Lord was his dwelling place and why these three people were making this step of faith.
We were privilaged to hear the personal testimony of Jonathan, Anneka and Stephanie before going into the pool to witness the baptisms, which were a delight in themselves.
How joyful was the fellowship afterwards as we shared amongst ourselves.

This Sunday 23rd May will be the baptism of three people by full immersion, which is the practice we follow at AEC  Do come and join us to stand by these people as they make their public declaration of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, or just to find out all about baptism and what is involved.

Sunday 16th May
Back to a 'normal Sunday' and yet every Sunday seems to be so special. Although different, we are always aware of the Holy Spirit's presence as we sing praises to the 'King of Kings', worship in prayer and bible reading and listen to the preacher 'opening the scriptures' to us.
Today Ian was preaching from Isaiah 1 and 'Come Let Us Reason' may be downloaded by clicking on the TEACHINGS tab to the right.

Sunday 9th May 2010

We welcomed Stuart Lythgoe to preach this morning and he chose Pilots words 'What is Truth' to be the subject of his teaching. He brought secular considerations into his discussion to help us think in a broader context as we 'argue the gospel' with those around us.

Sunday 2nd May 2010
We had an influx of visitors this morning, perhaps because we had planed baptism' which had to be postponed due to external problems, and they were privilaged to witness God's presence in the worship, testimony and teaching. We had a challenging, joyful time and enjoyed the baptismal cake in the fellowship time afterwards as it would not keep till the correct time. Perhaps we will have another then! Even the babies seemed to enjoy the service.
